The 33-year old also suffered from mild amnesia as he couldn’t recollect the last 20 years of his life, after regaining consciousness. According to reports, Alonso told the doctors, “I’m Fernando, I’m in karts and want to become Formula 1 driver.”
However, McLaren confirmed via their Twitter account today that the medical was successful and Alonso will be featuring at Sepang this weekend. McLaren’s 2014 driver, Kevin Magnussen acted as a stand-in for Alonso, who was warned by doctors to skip the Australian Grand Prix, despite relatively full fitness.
McLaren failed to register a single point with Jenson Button not being able to qualify beyond Q1. Alonso’s return might finally help them kick-start their season.
