After reports heading into the weekend that characterized negotiations on a new contract as “gaining momentum,” Yahoo Sports reported Sunday night that the Cowboys “expected more compromise” from Elliott’s representatives to get a new deal done. NFL Network reported that negotiations continued late Sunday but according an unidentified source a deal still was “not close.” Asked what was holding up an agreement, NFL Network’s source replied “everything.” Yahoo Sports’ Charles Robinson, appearing Monday morning on “PFT Live,” said the Cowboys had hoped to get a deal done Sunday to ensure that Elliott would be available for the full week of preparation in advance of the Week 1 game against the Giants....

There have been talks and meetings over the proposed idea of switching the grid around for races in 2020. Speaking at Saturday night’s post-qualifying press conference alongside pole-sitter and teammate Charles Leclerc and Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton, Vettel didn’t hold back with his thoughts on reverse grids. The Chinese GP was previously confirmed for the 2023 race calendar back in September. F1, however, soon removed the race from the calendar as COVID-19 restrictions increased in China in December. The biggest shock in the match between Roman Reigns and Bobby Lashley was the fact that it didn’t main event the Extreme Rules pay-per-view and took place at the top of the second hour. Reigns came out first to his usual chorus of boos while Lashley got a much better reaction. The world champion’s chances of catching Sebastian Vettel took a heavy blow on Saturday as hydraulic problems forced him out prior to Q2 and into 14th on the grid. The Briton briefly continued driving against the urging of his engineers before mounting a vain attempt to push his Silver Arrow back to the pits.
