Twitter and Facebook Continue to Fight Misinformation After President Trump fell ill with COVID-19, he was quickly admitted to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. But now that he’s recovering in the White House, he turned to social media to talk to the public. In President Trump’s Tweet and Facebook post, Trump expressed his opinion on the COVID-19 pandemic, saying: Both Twitter and Facebook don’t tolerate posts that spread false information about COVID-19....

The Stop Mandatory Vaccination group, which had amassed more than 195,000 members on Facebook, has also been taken down. In February, it emerged that the mother of a four-year-old boy who died of flu had opted not to use the Tamiflu medication that had been prescribed by a doctor, and was discussing natural “remedies” with members of the Stop Mandatory Vaccination group instead. Facebook told Newsweek that the group was removed because it violated the social network’s policy against QAnon....

The new social media enforcement comes after a network of profiles tied to the far-right organizations was disrupted last month. They had been urging supporters to attend the anti-racism protests taking place in the wake of the killing of George Floyd. At the time, Facebook said about 190 accounts were deleted from its applications amid chatter that some members were being rallied to go to protests while armed. This week, a Facebook spokesperson told ABC News that a fresh round of take-downs had been launched on profiles with links to the extremist groups....
